S.T.A.R (Start Thinking About Romanian) Children Relief Organization is a (501) (C) (3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to helping the many orphaned, abandoned and handicapped children throughout Romania. To accomplish this overwhelming endeavor, S.T.A.R solicits donations of money, clothing, and medicines from organizations and individuals that recognize the impact their generosity contributes to a society in such need

S.T.A.R supervises the distribution of donated items and services directly to both the children and to organizations that are qualified to administer aid on a charitable basis. This effort helps ensure that distribution results benefit the intended recipients.

A future vision of our organization includes building, owning and operating care and treatment facilities within the Romanian countryside for treatment of those Romanian children who face insurmountable odds in overcoming the many medical conditions they suffer from.

S.T.A.R Children is a humanitarian, voluntary aid organization which provides relief to the impoverished, handicapped and abandoned Romanian children irrespective of race or religion.

History

In 1999 Adriana Henderson, President and founder of S.T.A.R Children, heard of a young 13 year old boy called Nicusor Cobarlie who desperately needed blood-clotting factor for corrective foot surgery. This special medicine would enable Nicusor to walk for the very first time. At a very young age, Nicusor had medical mistreatment on his foot, which caused him to loose his ability to walk and play with others. Nicusor experienced a childhood challenged both physically and emotionally. His only form of transportation was being helped upon his mother's back. Finding a source of factor for Nicusor became a mission of hope and an experience in charitable soliciting for Adriana. Through the hope that her success may change the life of one young boy, became the vision that a charitable organization might provide an even greater impact of hope and gifting to many. Thus, through the achievements and courage to fight for Nicusor became the S.T.A.R Children Relief Organization.

S.T.A.R now works closely with charitable organizations and healthcare professionals by assessing the needs of particular patients, monitoring the distribution and personally following up on patients. S.T.A.R works with some of the biggest hospitals in Romania as well as both smaller city and remote area clinics.

As a natural progression, S.T.A.R began to help abandoned, orphaned and underprivileged children. S.T.A.R collects and delivers much needed clothing and toys to several trusted organizations in Romania, helping the deserving. As President and Founder of S.T.A.R, Adriana Henderson has a hands on approach to all her projects and is personally involved in every aspect of the Charity's operations. This helps insure maximum utilization of all donated materials.

What we do!

Our objectives are simple. We are a multi purpose organization that places a special emphasis on healthcare. We focus on blood disorders treatment and education.

We also:

Identify and evaluate children who are orphaned, abandoned, disabled or otherwise handicapped.

Identify and evaluate qualified organizations that administer aid to the intended children on a charitable basis.

Solicit donations for necessities i.e. clothes, toiletries, medical and dental supplies & equipment. Donations are sought through medical drug and equipment suppliers, hospitals, pharmaceutical firms, and Charitable organizations.

Solicit from closeout distributors.

Warehouse, inspect, package and distribute all donations.

Determine clinics and schools to receive our assistance.

Organize dental and medical missions for practitioners who donate their services and their many resources.

Supervise and monitor all the above activities, services and facilities in compliance with our mission to bring help and aid to those who need life saving assistance.
